i cant speak for everyone, but personally, im happy that Obama is reaching out and allowing himself to be more accessable. I think that is important. I try to observe politics more than adhering to a particular group or party

thanks for asking!
Randy
You can tell by the bands diversity that there is a lot of different influences from the 60's like CSN&Y .Bands that wrote and sang about what was going on at that time in history.Has KFAD ever thought about doing something like that or do you feel its better off to just leave that subject alone.
Thanks Steve
As a member of KFAD, I know that we as a group are not really a "politically" motivated band. Personally I like the new president, I think he's a very smart and earnest man, and it seems that he really cares about helping the country get back on track. I hope that the rest of the country allows him the proper time to accomplish what he is tying to do, it's not a quick fix. I'm also very cynical of politicians/politics in general, and am glad that we have someone who, at least right now, appears to be one of the honest ones. We'll see. Anything has to be better than the last eight years. To answer your question, KFAD does not have a collective political view, and we do not typically get involved in politics; we want to rock without political rhetoric, long live KFAD.
I second that!
Thanks for the reply
I think thats a good rule "ROCK WITHOUT POLITICAL RHETORIC"
One last question for the band.Do you guys ever think substance and pure talent will fall back into favor in the music industry or do you think that its to late.I think the kids today that are in high school and college are
really getting short changed when it comes to having BANDS not these over polished, ultra produced acts to
influence them. Is there any new bands out there that you feel have something to offer, or is it all just over processed cheese.
Thanks Steve
Good Question...I want to fall in love with a new band, but so far, KFAD is the only one that really does it for me ...i might be biased though!...(or not) ...I do really like a few current bands though:

Wolfmother
Derek Trucks
Lycoan Pictus

to name a few...

I dont think it is too late for great music to emerge in this time in this genre...(kfad being an example)...but the power really lies in the people, more than it lies in the industry...so spread the word about bands you love...it can go a very long way in acheiving that!

Thanks for sending me that site .Out of those three bands you listed Derek Trucks really did it for me.
I always look forward to new material from KFAD but if there is any other bands that sound like KFAD
particularly blues bands I would really appreciate it if you could list some.

I was at one of my friends sons birthday party and the kids were playing Guitar Hero.
There were two musicians there that Ive known for a long time and there as opposite as black and white.
They got into a heated debate about the game ,the more they drank the louder they got.
One of them said that kids are so fucking lazy today that they cant even learn how to play a real
instrument and they have to dumb down the guitar with 5 color coded buttons its a joke.
The other one said that with the way they keep cutting school budgets and music programs that any way they start to play a instrument was O.K with him.Whats your take on it . Thanks Steve
Hey Steve
Interesting...For sake of confusion on my part, lets begin by naming the two individuals involved in the heated discussion. The one who believes that kids "are so lazy", lets call this individual Bob. The other, who believes that with all the budget cuts in the arts...that any way a kid starts to play an instrument is ok with him, lets call him Steve.
To start, I agree with both of them. In Bob's case, he's right...kids have become lazy, lazy in all aspects of everyday life, but can you blame them? What reason does a kid in today's world have to read a book or go to the library to study up on a subject they know nothing about when the internet is right there in their home or at their school. When was the last time a kid wrote a letter to their grandparents or friends(actually, I never wrote a letter to my grandparents, but I think you get the point)...the point being, why would they when they can just text a quick blurb. Yes, all this technology had made life easier, but is that a good thing. It's has come to the point that when a company comes out with a product where the instruction book reads. Step 1: plug in, Step 2: Play game.....There's no more LEARNING of how to play a game!!!! Well, companies like the one that put out "Guitar Hero" do this so that everyone can PURCHASE the game and play it. These days, who wants to work at fun, lets just plug it in and go. So in away, Bob is write, but some how I don't think he put that much thought into it.
For Steve, god bless him, he's right too. School boards submit their budget for the year if not two years in advance and when the town selectman's say ya or nay and usually it's nay due to the tax benefits the town will or will not get that year, the "arts" are the programs that are usually cut
...it's a plague that has swept the country and it's shameful. So yes, I agree with Steve, any way that a child can put the art of creating music into their lives, be it an actual instrument or through a video game...it's a good thing.

Thanks for the reply brother, even back in the day your were always good for a point counter point discusion .
You almost described how it went down the other night with the exception that those two never acknowledge
the other ones point. and that kind of discusion never works.Ive given up trying to play this is your life its been to many years and to many gigs but I will make it to a show to check out KFAD one of these days.
Dano I dont remember you playing a guitar back in the day at Maxwells, did you always play just not on stage or did you start playing later on.Anyway thanks again for the reply it was a good read talk to ya later. Steve
